How to stay productive while working from home for a long time

Are you also working from home these days? Is it difficult to stay focused? No problem, we’ve got you covered!

1. Develop a morning ritual

It is counterproductive if you sit down at your computer immediately after getting up. So make sure you have some me-time or time with your family first. Prepare yourself a tasty (& healthy) breakfast, enjoy a long shower or walk a few kilometers. Find what works best for you!

2. Define your work space

Provide your own workspace in your home, we prefer a room with a door. This is an even clearer signal to yourself and your roommates that you are working when you are in this room. Leave your workplace tidy at the end of the working day so that you can start immediately the next day!

3. Prepare a to-do-list of priorities

Start your day reading your emails and start listing your priorities for the day. Do this with the help of clear to-do lists where you put the most important things at the top. Make sure you are realistic. This is the only way you will feel satisfied when you have been able to cross everything on your list!

4. Have regular breaks

Don’t push yourself to work 8 hours straight, no one can concentrate that long! Instead, work with ‘blocks’ of several hours and give yourself a short break afterwards. You will notice that afterwards you can get started with new energy and that you are more productive than before.

5. Don't let teleworking control your life

As we mentioned in step 1, it is important to draw a clear line between work and normal life. Not only for yourself, but also for others in your immediate environment. Make sure you don’t work too long and know your own limits. When the working day is over, don’t open your laptop again and give yourself rest until the next working day.
